Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Zap Star ("Zap Star", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects personal information when you visit zapstar.in, request a demo, or use the Zap Star app at app.zapstar.in (together, the "Service"). Zap Star provides QR menus, table ordering and billing for cafes, restaurants and other food businesses in India.
1. Information we collect
From businesses and their staff: name, phone number, email address, business name and address, GST details, login details, menu items and prices, staff names and logins, and orders and sales recorded in the app.
From customers who order through a Zap Star QR menu: the items ordered, table number, order time and any details the business asks for, such as a name or phone number.
From website visitors: the name and phone number you enter in the "Request a demo" form, and messages you send us on WhatsApp, by email or by phone.
Technical information: our hosting provider automatically records basic technical details such as IP address, browser type, device type and pages visited, to keep the Service secure and working. Our website uses fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google to load them. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies on this website. The app may use essential cookies to keep you signed in.
2. How we use information
- To provide the Service: show menus, send orders to the counter and kitchen, create bills and reports.
- To set up and manage accounts, staff logins and free trials.
- To reply to demo requests and support questions.
- To send important messages about your account, such as trial reminders and changes to the Service.
- To keep the Service secure, prevent misuse and fix problems.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting requirements.
3. Information that belongs to your business
Menus, orders, customer details and sales data that a business enters or collects through Zap Star belong to that business. We process this information on the business's behalf only to provide the Service. Businesses are responsible for informing their own customers about how they use customer information.
4. Sharing information
We do not sell personal information. We share it only:
- With service providers who help us run the Service, such as hosting, email and messaging providers, under confidentiality obligations.
- With the business you order from, when you place an order through its QR menu.
- When required by law, a court order or a government authority, or to protect the rights and safety of Zap Star, our users or others.
5. Storage and security
We use reasonable security measures, such as encrypted (HTTPS) connections and access controls, to protect information. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your login details and PINs private.
6. How long we keep information
We keep account and business information while your account is active. After an account is closed, we delete or anonymise it within a reasonable time, except where we must keep records for legal, tax or accounting reasons. Demo request details are kept only as long as needed to follow up with you.
7. Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable Indian law, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you.
- Correct or update your information.
- Delete your information, where we are not required to keep it.
- Withdraw consent you have given us.
To make a request, email support@zapstar.in. If you ordered at a cafe or restaurant, you can also contact that business directly about the information it holds.
8. Children
Zap Star accounts are meant for businesses and are not intended for children under 18.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date. For important changes, we will also inform account holders.
10. Contact and grievances
For questions, requests or complaints about privacy, contact our grievance team at support@zapstar.in. We will respond as soon as possible and within the time required by applicable law.
